This forum is solely for self education, as well not everyone is educated on this form of TRT
What is Androgel
Androgel, a form of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), is often prescribed to men experiencing low testosterone levels, a condition known as hypogonadism. This forum will cover various aspects of Androgel, including its uses, benefits, potential side effects, and statistical data on its effectiveness and usage.
Application
Androgel is usually applied once daily to clean, dry skin on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen. The gel should not be applied to the genitals, spread evenly and make sure hands are clean and washed.
Side effects
Generally same as any other form of TRT, but less extreme as it’s a creme rather than injection.
(but for people who don’t know)
1. Improved Libido: Testosterone therapy can enhance sexual desire and performance.
2. Increased Muscle Mass: Testosterone can help increase muscle mass and strength.
3. Bone Density: It helps maintain bone density, reducing the risk of fractures.
4. Mood and Energy: Many men report improvements in mood, energy levels, and overall quality of life.
5. (Only if your not fully gone through puberty and most likely under the age of 18) TRT will help promote normal development, including penile growth, as part of overall puberty progression.
Common misconception that Androgel doesn’t work due to skin thickness
If the skin is particularly thick, it might reduce the rate of absorption of the gel. However, AndroGel is formulated to penetrate the skin effectively, and many patients with varying skin types and thicknesses have successfully used it. To maximize absorption, it’s important to apply the gel to clean, dry, and healthy skin on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen, where the skin tends to be thinner and more consistent.
Androgel vs Injection
AndroGel
• Absorption: Approximately 10% of the applied dose is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream.
• Administration: Requires daily application to maintain stable testosterone levels.
Injections
• Absorption: Nearly 100% of the injected dose is delivered directly into the bloodstream.
• Administration: Typically given every one to two weeks, leading to higher peak levels and gradual declines until the next dose.
The higher absorption efficiency of injections often results in more predictable and stable increases in testosterone levels compared to topical treatments.
Study: (https://www.androgel.com)
Of the men who used AndroGel 1.62% once daily for 16 weeks, 82% had their testosterone levels returned to normal compared to 37% of those who received placebo. However, if you stop using AndroGel 1.62% every day, your testosterone levels may fall back to your previous levels.
Summary
Yes it works just not as well as other forms.
