Anime Japanese vs. IRL Japanese

Anime speech is either overly casual, or uses a melodramatic, almost literary register (e.g. “no da” instead of “nda”, “de wa nai” instead of “janai”, “Wakatta no ka?” Instead of “wakatta no?”, “da ga” instead of “demo”, “shimatta” instead of “chatta” etc.)
