Balding is one off the biggest curses that many men face, around 20-25% of men experience some degree of male pattern balding in their early 20's so there is a good chance you will experience some or TOTAL hair loss in your late teens.

Why do we go bald?
Balding is generally determinate by genetics. The gene that causes balding is the AR gene(Androgen Receptor gene) which is located in the X chromosome the chromosome which you inherit from your mother. The AR gene controls the production of androgen receptors and its effect on the hair follicle is what causes the balding. If your AR gene causes you to have sensitive androgen receptors in the hair follicle you have the balding gene. This does NOT mean the AR gene is a "bad gene" the androgen receptor gene also determines the production of androgen receptors in the body an example for it being good is in the muscle, allot of androgen receptors in the muscle means DHT and testosterone bind easier to the muscle which activate more muscle growth path ways allot in the face can also help with facial masculinity. If your hair follicles have sensitive androgen receptors activation you will likely experience male pattern balding. This happens do to the binding of DHT to the hair follicles and shrinking the hair follicles over time this process is called miniaturization this shortens the hair growth cycle, when the hair growth cycle shortens the hair will start to grow shorter and thinner. Eventually the follicles become dormant where they no longer will produce any visible hair all together and eventually the hair follicle will completely stop producing any new hairs. Depending on how sensitive your androgen receptors are to DHT and how much DHT you have in your blood stream you many lose your hair over years but if you are really sensitive or have you high DHT you may go bald within months.

Norwood scale:
The Norwood scale is used to measure the progression of male pattern baldness.
1754247577132

You may be wondering why the back and sides don't go bald. This is because these follicles are genetically coded to resist miniaturizing and have way lower DHT sensitivity.

Solutions to balding:
There are many solutions to balding but not many are as effective and some are without allot of research. When you look for anti hair loss protocols you will likely get people who tell you to get rosemary oil and/or pumpkin seed oil and an other bunch of oils if you are using these oils you will be wasting your money. To be fair some off these oils have some hair growth benefits and DHT blocking capabilities, they will likely do little to nothing. There are real and effective ways to stop balding and even restore lost hair.

-Finasteride
Finasteride is one of the most widely known and effective anti hair loss drugs and it is FDA approved. Finasteride blocks conversion off testosterone to DHT by blocking the type 2 5-Aphla reductase emzyme. This reduces DHT around 60-70%, because DHT causes shrinkage of the hair follicles blocking it will stops or reduces further hair loss. If you get off you will start losing your hair again.

-Dutasteride
Dutasteride is also widely known to be effective although it is not FDA approved. It also blocks the conversion of the conversion of testosterone to DHT but where it divers from finasteride is the path ways they block. Dutasteride blocks both the type 1 and 2 5-Aphla reductase enzyme. This blocks 90+% of DHT so it is more potent then finasteride and will also result in better results. If you go off the drug you will start to lose you hair again.
-minoxidil
Minoxidil does not stop hair loss but it will start to grow new hairs and slow down the hair loss with the growth off new hairs. Minoxidil was originally intended as a oral blood pressure medication which caused hair growth as a side effect. Now it is mostly use topical as a foam or oil. It works by opening up the blood vessels and restoring/improving blood flow to the hair follicle. It increases the hair growth phases so hair grows thicker and longer and it reactivates dormant hair follicles. Just a wonder drug, it is not exclusive to hair on the top of your head it can be used to grow facial hair and thicker eye brows. A wonder drug i highly recommend it.

-hair transplant
A hair transplant moves hair follicles from the back off the head to the the top of your head. I only recommend this when your crown is starting to lose hair.

-experimental
There are other drugs like RU-58841 and CB-03-01 that are topical and stop the DHT from binding to the Androgen receptor. These have very little research and side effects are just not that known they probably dont have long term effects tho so if you want to try and experience any side effect you will likely lose the side effects if you get off. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

My concerns about DHT blockers overall: DHT blockers like Finasteride and dutasteride block DHT from being in the blood stream. This will block ALL DHT which will stop balding but will also get rid off all the other benefits of DHT. DHT is a key hormone for sexual drive, it is critical for penile development so yes if you have high DHT you likely will have a bigger dick, it is also strongly linked to body hair and voice deepening. DHT can also influence masculinity of the face and it can influence the facial bones during puberty by binding to the androgen receptors in the facial bone tissue.

Thanks for reading my thread let me know if i missed anything or if i got anything wrong.

Because nutrition is irrelevant
Nutrition is key for hair health it doesn't stop balding but it does effect hair thickness and can effect length it is key.

I think it’s the scalp. If u don’t have a healthy scalp, ur hair will thin, eventually fall out and u’ll start balding
