There are plenty of skincare guides I could find but they all have a dozen+ optional supplements. I'm trying to find something more basic

if your goal is anti aging,

in the morning you can do nothing except
cleanse + sunscreen

night time
cleanse + tretinoin

once a week, microneedle

thats as simple and effective as you can get.

Your base should be cleansing first so get a cleanser, if you're going out in the sun make sure to get maybe a creme or moisturizer with SPF in it so you're protected against the sun. You do that after you've cleansed your skin. I could talk more advanced but you asked for something basic well I'd say this is your base. Also make sure to use cold water for your skin and not hot/warm water cause it'll dry out your skin.

What is the reason for the cleanser first? I saw another thread say cleansers are harsh on the skin

cleansers do nothing to treat or anti age or whatever goal you have in mind

its just to clean your skin so that the products that DO have anti aging properties get maximum penetration

you wouldn't want to do a chemistry experiment with a dirty flask, right? you clean it with distilled water and then start mixing the chemicals together

Basically this, they also get rid of all the build up grime throughout your day/night and remove dead skin cells from your face.

If you get a good cleanser it will do this without removing any essential oils that keep your skin hydrated but a moisturizer will make sure your skin is optimally hydrated on top of that.

Am: cleanse occasionally, moisturizer if needed + sunscreen

Pm: cleanse occasionally, thicker moisturizer, RetinA

Low IQ. What would you know anyways? Clensing causes you to wash out all the essential oils in your skin. And dry skin isn't the reason for not using hot water. The reason for that is because cold water promotes enhanced collagen productivity in the epidermis (stratum corneum).

Have fun with your premature ageing.

Idk what cleanser you're using but good cleansers are designed to not strip your skin of their essential oils. Any excess oil gets removed yeah. You're right about the use of cold water but hot water will still dry out your skin lol just depends on what skin type you have. Nice to see you James :)
