I want to do a trade job, something that is physical and more of a contract sort of thing. Anyone here do any such thing and have any recommendations? Can be something you go to Trade school for like a welder or a carpenter whatever you can make a somewhat decent living on, and enjoy yourself still

is it ok if you just have a GED for these jobs? also why is everyone not pulbermaxxing it easier than a lot of jobs that pay a lot less.
I think in most states you'll have to go through 2-5 years of apprenticeship before taking the exams to become a licensed plumber, but you are paid throughout your apprenticeship. A GED is the only degree that's required.

Diesel mechanics make anywhere from 50-70k, and it’s a fun job as well if you are into working on cars.

Still only need a GED?

Yes, but you will need to go to trade school to learn the trade. Certifications will help you with job security, wages, etc. but they aren’t necessary to get the job.

I'm a floorer, did one year apprenticeship (no trade school, its a competency based thing in Australia), been working for 1 year with best mate doing our own jobs for various floor suppliers, on the average non covid week, I make 3-4k AUD before tax.
Includes usually;
Carpet pull up, old hardwood pull up, tile pull up
Relevel/level floor using concrete based floor leveller + angle grinder with diamond cup
Laying anywhere from 35-100m of either laminate, timber, hybrid, bamboo or vinyl planks
Installing quad (floor beading) or skirts

All of my tools cost me 2.5k AUD all together (my ute and tool box 7k, but thats optional)
The money we earn from the residential supplier we do most work for is as follows;
Pull up - $3 per m2, unless tiles - $10+ per m2 depending on difficulty (or most times well have someone else pull up tiles)
Level - $100 per bag of compound (the bags cost us $25 each) + $2 per minute of grinding
Lay - Timber, bamboo $25 per m2, laminate, hybrid $20 per m2
Quad and skirts depend, but skirts can get you a couple hundred, quad; next to nothing.

It's an easy job skill wise, just takes time to master it and get as fast as we are, but it can be physically demanding if it's a big day, to combat this, we play punk rock or house music at the loudest possible volume andhave a few smokos (Australian slang for a food break).
Although, most days are easy as fuck and nothing goes wrong (usually when there are no tiles and the job is 30-70m2, which is like 80% of jobs)

How much / year?
Average $70-80k, it's good pay cause all you do is chill all day, they have guys rotating who's actually operating the crane so you have one guy in, and 3 guys in the break room chilling.

If you want an easy as fuck job, that's unethically well paid, you want to be a train driver, average is $109k per year, just don't get PTSD from people jumping in front of you, personally, I couldn't care less, so it's something I'll look at for in like 20 years when my body is broken down from flooring.
Only problem is that it's heavily unionised - which means if you're not alt- left wing, you gotta bite your tongue when talking to colleges - it's also a hard job to get in to, but not impossible.

labour is shit. Not worth actually lifting shit and stuff when shekelberg gets paid to do nothing. Its one of the worst slave jobs you will actually feel like a real slave. Actually working for your shekels instead of typing or answering calls. Better off sitting in an office tbh. Even though that is unhealthy and shit. Its not mentally healthy to get your hands dirty for small amounts of shekels.
