TADS-Temporary anchorage devices

I have really bad bimax protrusion it'll fuck up my jaw surgery results if i dont fix it beforehand. surgeons & local orthos just rec different variations of extractions. i heard about TADS that it can fix protrusion, even better than extraction, is this true? anyone have experience with this?

It’s true but difficult to find a based ortho

You will still need to extract wisdom teeth but might be possible, depending on your case. You need to find an ortho willing to work with them. Show pics of side profile first

I have already extracted wisdom teeth. It was real bad they were growing like almost sideways.

Based on pictures I think treatment with TADs should be possible but I'm no expert. You will need to convince an ortho

get a rhinopasty and genioplasty and otoplasty combo, you do seem quite recessed. do you happen to have sleep apnea?

i want bimax too. i think it would be much more natural looking to expand jaws in addition to genio.
i dont know about rhino. not sure what i will do because the problem isnt my nose its my severely recessed upper face, i accidentally covered it in the pic but i have like 0 nose bridge and it looks very subhuman, i think i need implants for that, rhino cant fix it.
i dont have sleep apnea. My skull is fked up after 16 years of mouth breathing. But its already been 6 years since I stopped that, and years of proper tongue posture and hard mewing + chin tuck since last year, its not enough to do anything except prevent it from getting worse

imma be honest with you, i really don't think you need bimax. your issue is not a protruding mouth, but a recessed chin

raising the bridge of your nose + genio will mask your protrusive lips. this would be more than enough.

also, @Skry, genioplasty will help open your airways and help you breathe better.

First time I see this discussed on here.

I was a TADS patient at 23 y.o. i wasted one whole year with this.

In theory it works. In practice, if you're an adult, it doesn't. It really comes down to how old you are.

There was some successful cases with teenagers (11-14 y.o) but not with adults as far as I am aware.

I had very minimal movements from it and it would have taken 4 years before getting my trimax. I went for the extractions instead.. which isn't great I know, but I have a much better quality of life now so it was worth speeding up the process.

I didn't know genio can do that.
Well I think I will need to look around more. Only thing I've been fixated on was trimax surgeons. I haven't found any before/afters of someone with my pheno getting brow/nose ridge expansion
I still think my jaws are recessed but perhaps it's not worth having to lose teeth if genio does most of the work anyway. Not like im going to be pretty either way

And that is my age now. So it didn't work at all? you had removed wisdom teeth, right?
And 4 years is insane lol

I have 24 teeth left. 4 premolars, 4 wisdom pulled out. Fucking brutal.

Fortunately my palate isn't that small vs how many teeth I got left. I'm not completely screwed over by all these extractions although it surely didn't help.

Yeah it moved a notch, nothing significant and according to my ortho it'd have been a 4 year long process at the very least.

That is brutal. I also have lost my wisdom teeth so it scares me to go even further. I feel like in a decade i'd regret everything and waste even more years trying to get my teeth replaced or something

When I consulted ramieri he said dont bother with fixing protrusion, only remove bottom premolars to create teeth overjet, then make a much larger lower jaw expansion. But that's so fucked, my teeth would not line up the way they were intended to if I did that. Almost sounds worse than removing both upper and lower, even if i could save my upper palate. Jfl

What did he mean by ‘make a much larger lower jaw expansion’

never heard of TADs.
you dont have bimax protrusion but i understsnd you want to shift your teeth back to make more space for forward movement during bimax. maaaybe look into ASO(in this case your already removed wisdom substitutes the premolar)? i have no clue

my suggestion- i think you should just extract premolars on lower jaw if rameiri says so. its the traditional way. extraction is really not that big a deal. it will not hurt you in anyway or form. mike mew said its fine. many model has done it including tyler maher. maybe consult with other jaw surgeons if you can get away with CCW to get the bsso you need

source on mew saying extraction is fine? can only find videos saying it's a "debated issue" and videos where he explains why retractive orthodontics are bad
and what are you talking about when did tyler maher have premolar extractions
idk how you think I dont have bimax protrusion, sure it's not that extreme when compared to other asians, but still abnormal, and even orthodontists see it

An othro in AZ specialises in this. you don't need extractions
