ive seen afghans that look very curry and others that arent. but ultimately i will say no because curries are indic and afghans are iranic. its a language thing. if afghans spoke urdu instead of dari then i would have called them indic

Afghans aren’t one group- they’re comprised of Turkic, iranic, and Arab speaking peoples
Pashtuns the largest Afghan group are mainly iranic with some south Asian influences

No.
Curry = Anyone from Indian subcontinent speaking Indo Aryan Languages and their variations. Srilankans and South Indians doesn't speak Indo Aryan language but still they're considered part of the Indian subcontinent so they're curries as well.

Afghans = Outside subcontinent+ language is Indo Iranian. They may look Curry but that won't cut it. Go to Afghan you can see how much it differs from India and how similar it is to iran

afghans can generally be considered iranic because even the "mongoloids" there speak hazaragi which is an iranian language and therefore they are iranic.

Race is a social construct is somewhat true. Yes there are superficial differences between races from a wider view but on a closer look, every race shows similarities with other.
Doesn't mean that an average guy from Scotland is same as average guy from Tamilnadu

True but there are also a fair amount of Uzbeks, Turkmen and Kyrgyz who are Turkic

fair enough but i think combined they make a minority since the overwhelming majority is iranic. we also call pakistani indic even though 15-17%ish of the population is iranic (not including the millions of afghan refugees)

Overall yeah Afghanistan is an iranic country. How engrained does a language have to be in a culture? Are Israelis of European descent now Semitic because they speak Hebrew? For example

you pose an interesting question. i think as long as it is an official language and widely spoken then yes they should become grouped into that group. but we should also look at somebodys mothertongue. depending on that answer you can get an individual answer. but for an overall grouping you just need to look at the official language. so in your case, israel should be considered a semitic country. if israelis of european descent speak hebrew as their first language then yes they should be considered semitic as well. its not really genetic based as it is more language based. for instance you can call hazaras mongoloids but most afghans are caucasoids, but since hazaras speak an iranic language they are iranic. if they spoke urdu then theyd be an indic group and not iranic anymore. if they spoke japanese theyd be japonic.

I can see where you’re coming from. Although one could argue that requires complete assimilation to a culture. Some for example would a British Pakistani be considered Germanic just because they speak English?

i think cultural assimilation is different from being grouped together in an ethnic group. for instance in pakistans case, if you live in punjab *or* you speak the language *or* you have assimilated into the culture you are considered a punjabi. technically speaking i am a punjabi native to a germanic country. but ethnically im not a part of this dutch ethnic group since my first language was urdu/pothwari which are both indic languages. i still consider myself dutch however when i am speaking to people online. normally i just tell people im dutch rather than being pakistani haha. unless its to clarify.
