Most Orthos are pushing your maxilla back but only if your braces are for overbite. If they are smart they dont do that and push your mandible forward. Still even if the push your maxilla back which would recess it a bit , its not a big problem because they will recess your maxilla so little that you will probably not notice. If your overbite is insanly bad then its going to be a problem because then they are going to pull it to far back. As a conclusion just talk to your ortho what he does with elastics and ask if he could push mandible forward

Actually a looksmax until you open your mouth - at least for me. The brackets give me lip support and my mouth looks better. Plus the forced occlusion makes me jut.

Braces are fine, just never get premolar extractions unless you have something like bimaxillary protrusion.

Lower premolar extraction is fine if it's in prep for lower jaw surgery.

Basically just keep all your teeth in your mouth and you are good.
