And every time faceiq is reacting to someone and they bring up calories he always mocks them and is disappointed and put calories in air quotes

And he made a pretty good points (well in my opinion) on how we measure calories and said something on the lines of "we are not the machine" or sum lowk forgot

And get me pondering if they are real or not

Measuring the quantity of food you eat using calories + macros is one of the best habits you could build early on in your life, after some time you'll be able to eye ball the amount of calories in the stuff you eat, before you know it it'll become 2nd nature.

Dont listen to every content creator just willy nilly, never forget its their JOB Stands on them being relevant and in the spotlight, so of course they'll target shit like this and try to be against the wave

also calories are real, if you ever took chemistry in your life you would know that its measured using a Bomb calorimeter, its mechanism is simple to understand, By the end of the process you get left with a quantity, thats what calories are, they aren't tangible things they are just a quantity of energy

The obsession with calories is also never really used for good stuff, people use it to starve themselves for "fat loss" thinking that'll work when your body just gets stressed from not eating enough and starts to produce more fat than it would have otherwise (as a measure to survive) if you would have just eaten good food instead
