Are jaw trainers like this cope for masseter growth

I heard these types of trainers are a good idea for masseter growth but was wondering how you can actually progress. Obviously there are ones which are more rigid. But isnt there going to be a limit of how much you can progressively overload before there are no jaw trainers that are helpful, or by that point will your masseters be big enough.

They are most likely causing tmj. Id recommend either mastic gum or raw carrots
 
what is the difference between the exerciser and mastic gum? why wouldn’t mastic gum give tmj cuz i genuinely don’t know
Jaw exerciser makes you bite straight down with maximal force every rep, which your TMJ bone isnt designed for.
