Where I live, nobody eve brings up the issue about looks or how someone's got a nice haircut, or dyed their hair or etc. people here seem not to be shallow. However, there are some girls who get turned off by short guys regardless of how they look (back in Highschool).

People will always care about looks. It mattered 100 years ago, and it will still matter in 100 years. The real question is, at which age do people tend to care LESS about looks? I find that the older you get, the less looks matter. That's why most people here are teenagers or in their 20s. Even women start to care less about looks in a partner and more about money, the older they get.
