They don't know what's attractive, they mostly react on instinct, they react to smell, body language, etc.

I remember seeing one study with cats or dogs, and, with strangers, they were more drawn to the people with attractive faces although they were always most drawn to their owner even if they were not attractive. But that was a while ago and it was only one study so it doesnt mean much, i have never seen any other studies on it
