like what if the case scenario is a palate expander isn’t applicable for your case and your teeth are extremely crowded because your jaw is too small to fit all the teeth so you get all 4 premolars removed: 2 top, 2 bottom, and then you close the gaps with braces. is the end result of this always desirable. i think some people have no choice but to go down this route

They're not bad if you're getting them before bimax

Otherwise yes they will recess you

How is a palate expander not applicable? Not enough time?

i think in my case i ended up fine, my maxilla isn’t recessed (i don’t think), but this site is making me have second thoughts because i always see them advocating for no extractions for braces and slandering any orthos that do so

if your teeth are crowded on top and bottom then isn’t applicable because i don’t think you can use a palate expander for your lower jaw

It's obviously worse than not having extractions but it ain't that deep

Send me your side profile bro

Also not only does it recces your jaws (depends when you got them done tbh), they also reduce bone mass and introduce more asymmetry

Thought lower jaw moved with upper jaw no?

People notice asymmetry and bone loss from 1 extraction that is not even a premolar

Now imagine you had this in early puberty, you've been fucked hard

Then realise it was 4 premolar extractions done, not 1 normal tooth

Perhaps it has been detrimental
Canines are important yes

They're far less important than premolars for developing jaw as if you think intuitively most pressure is exerted from the back teeth

But nevertheless it has definitely had some effect
Likely has contributed to nsf

You're working against nature
The extent to which is very very great, especially the earlier you get them

It helps orthos created more space and therefore correct any malocclusions and misalingment helping to create that perfect smile

But the problem is that quite frankly if you have crowded teeth its probably because of another issue (e.g. mandibular, maxilla, alveolar)

Not an expert though this is just what Ive gathered

Don't blame them bro
They are bluepilled

I was angry at them too but the real people we should divert this to are those Ortho rats who knew this stuff all along but didn't care just to make a few bucks off us

I'm not even kidding, my Ortho was Jewish. I remember him telling the Asian assistant with him that he was going to the synagogue after the shift

If you have crowded teeth it means you have a smaller jaw and need expansion

Yeah pretty much but expanders are lowk useless sadly and downright dangerous so only way to fix it either some sort of lefort or bsso or some type of SAO and corticonomy procedure still researching that

Why are expanders dangerous? I had one help me when i was younger and its likely the reason im not a complete subhuman with 8 removed teeth now

Yeah I meant post puberty sorry its very much effective pre and during it. After the bones sutures have sealed the likelyhood of assymetries and other problems happening is 100x greater

jaw structure does change from any tooth extraction due to stem cell remodeling thats the reality

Yeah worked for him because it improved his weird face shape but its just to illustrate the point that your jaw structure will change and probably for the worst if you dont have that weird face shape

How you know that's from teeth extractions ? And what teeth's ?

If you need teeth extraction you should do it, more bone will reabsorbed from impacting teeth. Could use sfot if not MSE works also, it's always better to not extract teeth but of you dont have the money to create space yäthan take them out
