Tooth size is primarily influenced by genetics, but not entirely genetic. Genes like PAX9, MSX1 and EDA control and regulate tooth size, shape and quantity. However environmental factors, especially nutrition (vitamin D, calcium) play a big role in how teeth develop. Malnutrition during childhood or the prenatal childhood can lead to smaller or weaker teeth. Epigenetics are also relevant, as environmental factors affect how tooth related genes are expressed.

My teeth are ass, I had braces and palate expander from like 13 to 16. Looked amazing, braces off. Didn't wear retainer now here I am.
I need it done again.
