I feel like it’s such a rare skill man, why are so few people able to speak in publicly without rechecking and rehearsing?

why haven’t people practiced upon such an important skill?

same reason people aren't practiced in combat, there is no incentive or motivation. people are allowed and even rewarded to be complacent unskilled slobs. our entire culture is focused on opting out, bureaucratic office work, being couch potatoes, and delegating all self sustainment and self defense tasks to the government

we need wars, we need a shock to the system. we need a society that forces people to engage in risk taking that has become "optional" in modern society

I hated it and used to get incredibly anxious and panicked, but as I grew up, I pretty much endured forced exposure therapy as both jobs and university forced me to do several presentations on quite vast topics.

I used to be the worst public speaker ever but it was never due to anxiety, it was due to the fact that I just was shit at speaking

I don’t think I’ve ever felt anxiety in my life when speaking in public, my head just felt empty

least deranged @looksmaxxed take

The irony of public speaking is that what paralyses most people isn’t the act itself but the ego: the fear of how they’ll be perceived. It’s not really about words or delivery, but more so about one's self-image being under threat.

Every time I’ve spoken publicly, and it actually went well, it was when I had complete disdain for the people in the room, unironically.
The moment the ego’s attachment snaps, anxiety dissolves, and what remains is pure communication, our oldest and greatest asset.

perfect explanation of why people fear public speaking

people think that those tiny details will come to harm them, when they haven’t done the major work of the detail.

nah you can perfect your speech by trying, although it’s best to have a natural base where you can say it low inhib no paper look just speech purely
