Do you like to use your brain? Or could you do without it?
Personally I like the idea of using my brain. I don't like the idea of coping by pretending that intellectualism is the only thing important in life - it's obviously not, since we are only human and need social relationships too. But I'd very much like to eventually learn graduate level math. It helps you have a more creative mind. You can pass on knowledge to the next generation someday. That is how I will cope with growing old and dying.
