King Frederick William I of Prussia had an obsession with creating a giant army. He ordered the kidnapping of tall men from all over Europe to breed with tall women sometimes raping them resulting in the creation of the largest soldiers in history. The Potsdam Giants. Almost 6'3 on average which in those days was Giant tier because most men were 5'6-5'8.

So why didn't they stick around. The forceful breeding resulted in inbreeding and genetic diseases. These troops also took way more resources to maintain(food, clothes, shelter). Apparently ration for 3 soldiers taken by one of these. They also weren't useful in battle beyond looking intimidating. They couldn't perform in battle, often slow, unathletic and were outmaneuvered by normal soldiers in battle field.

Even small groups of manlet and malnourished but experienced British and French platoons could massacre an entire flank with ease so they were disbanded after a few years

The manlet is a compact, nimble, low maintanance and resilient war machine. Tallfags could never compare, all they are good for is 1 vs 1. Gurkhas are the shortest and fiercest warriors in modern history. Manlet rage is also a powerful source of berserk power.

Certain traits are often associated with usefulness but are really or almost purely aesthetic, β€œbig equal more intimidating/harder to take down” but doesn’t account for resources or how fast bigger people tend to move in battle

I do remember reading that, for the british army in ww1, officers tended to be much taller than ordinary soldiers due to better nutrition as children. Kinda reminds me of that

Imagine how validating it would be to chop some tallfags head as a manlet
"master, arent you bothered by people pointing out your short stature?"

"that doesnt bother me at all, i would be much taller if i beheaded them and stood on their heads"

did you read the article at all before posting all that bullshit lmfao. it literally says they never saw battle.
Although Prussia briefly intervened in the Great Northern War, the Potsdam Giants never saw battle.

No. They did. The German Wikipedia entry for the Altpreußisches Infanterieregiment No. 6 which is the historic Potsdam Giants regiment explicitly lists battles under its combat record. Hohenfriedberg, Rossbach, Leuthen, Hochkirch, Liegnitz, and Torgau. There are even written accounts of light cavalry regiments and riflemen facing them

honestly, if you think about how battles were fought in those days, a bunch of dudes shooting in a line, obviously being a smaller target was more optimal. interesting that darwin mentioned them

Initially they were indeed a ceremonial regiment but they were later used in battles where they were ineffective. The generals would use cavalry and artillery to punch throught the line and then exploit the gap by sending fast moving troops to surround them. The Potsdam couldn't move quick enough into defensive positions and defensive formations so they became easy targets.
