If he used AIs without having elevated E2, its much easier to crash the levels let alone keep growth plates open. Reducing E2 levels would cause other hormones to compensate and it'd just cause a whole mess

If your estrogen isn't elevated (is within the normal range), it's much easier to fuck it all up because there was nothing wrong with them in the first place. AIs are good when you're on testosterone and your estrogen levels ARE elevated in which case you can use AIs to correct them.
