This post is meant to bring about a serious discussion on the topic of female body aesthetics. Please, don’t go overboard with trolling in the comments.

Is a strong bite force really that important in today’s society? Most people, even those who don’t have particularly well developed jaws, have little trouble chewing their food. We don’t have to rip through tough meat anymore. And yet, a well formed lower third is still one of the pinnacles of facial appeal. It’s a relic from our past. We also don’t engage in physical combat nearly as much as we used to, and yet, a strong brow ridge is still seen as a desirable and dimorphic feature, despite not being as useful anymore. Of course, both of these features still provide advantages to this day (especially the jaw, since it's connected to breathing), but the nerf they took in practicality barely made a dent in their importance for physical attractiveness.
This, to me, is the driving force behind our idea of what is an aesthetic female body today. The hips signify fertility and deliverance potential. This potential was once the single most important variable when it came to female reproductive appeal, in my opinion. In a time where there was no c-section or prenatal exams, maximizing the chances that your offspring will actually be born healthy was crucial. This has remained with us to this day, informing our perception of the opposite's sex body.
A woman’s height does correlate well with her baby’s weight, which is a good indicator. However, this still hasn’t trumped the importance of horizontal proportions, which is why the ‘ideal’ (and most desired) female body type hasn’t skewed towards taller, more slender figures.
