I recommend you to read daily american media, from CNN to Fox News to newspapers like the NYT, Washington Post and so on.

You will start to understand the degree of ignorance of the average american in regards to so many issues. I guess it's partly our fault for making up this bias equivalence of richest country in the world=most educated country in the world. Especially when it comes to foreign affairs, it's just on another level and it is really worrying due to how much influence their politicians and assets have outside.
