Mao Zedongs polices during the Great Leap Forward led to mass hunger, starvation and death. During this time people ate anything to survive. From tree bark to rats. It’s tradition there. They eat anything that moves because their parents did and their parents did, etc.

I’m sure poverty in China before Mao Zedong even took power also played a part aswell.

It’s not asians. It’s Chinese to be specific. Koreans and the Japanese have called the Chinese out on this for centuries.

The Chinese do it because it’s a delicacy spawned by necessity. Most people in China were going hungry less than 70 years ago. Before that people going hungry was also the norm. They ate anything that moved. This doesn’t justify why they eat bats and shit because they have no excuse. But the reason they do it is due to tradition passed down from generation to generation.
