There's a term in American politics that has gained a lot of traction it is called TACO-Trump always chickens out. Did it during the retaliatory tariff against China, did it again on pressure on putin and then a dozen other fake promises . he says something big then depending on public reactions backs out. im not skilled enough to work for big tech companies at the moment anyway so for me its ight, junior roles should be a bit easier to get but who knows

low tier to mid tier companies won't spend 100k per employee

Definitely true but it also depends on the domain. My domain which is Devops is very work from home friendly. Some companies even prefer it because you can take advantage of timezones to be on call at all times but it depends embedded systems and VLSI is notoriously difficult

I guess we'll have to see how it plays out, eiether it will be a blessing for US students or everything will be offshored to shit.

Not really I have other job offers overseas. I knew this was coming but most companies I know are offshoring stuff either that or running apprenticeship/graduate programs to upskill Americans to fill the missing roles. I don't know what's going to happen in the future either. Most industry experts are pretty divided on the issue since Silicon Valley practically runs on foreign brain power.
