How the female body has been racialized for over two hundred years
There is an obesity epidemic in this country and poor black women are particularly stigmatized as “diseased” and a burden on the public health care system. This is only the most recent incarnation of the fear of fat black women, which Sabrina Strings shows took root more than two hundred years ago.
Strings weaves together an eye-opening historical narrative ranging from the Renaissance to the current moment, analyzing important works of art, newspaper and magazine articles, and scientific literature and medical journals―where fat bodies were once praised―showing that fat phobia, as it relates to black women, did not originate with medical findings, but with the Enlightenment era belief that fatness was evidence of “savagery” and racial inferiority.
The author argues that the contemporary ideal of slenderness is, at its very core, racialized and racist. Indeed, it was not until the early twentieth century, when racialized attitudes against fatness were already entrenched in the culture, that the medical establishment began its crusade against obesity.
An important and original work, Fearing the Black Body argues convincingly that fat phobia isn’t about health at all, but rather a means of using the body to validate race, class, and gender prejudice.

With the time she spent writing that ridiculous joke of a book, she could've got fit.

She was eating taco bell, twinkies and downing gallons of Pepsi while sat at her laptop writing that book.

It’s hard to get fit quickly
What's hard about it? Sure, it might not be quick, but that doesn't mean it's hard. Just stop eating all that crap every day, and it happens like magic. Losing 1 kg of fat takes a caloric deficit of 7000 kcal. Now average fat person needs probably like 3000kcal to maintain their bodyweight. Instead of that, eat 2000. Boom, you lose a kilo of fat in a week. If you want to go hardcore, eat 1000 kcal (mostly veggies and fruits in that case), and boom, you lose 2 kilos of fat in a week. If you can't eat so little, exercise a bit. A 1 hour of cardio would burn probably 400-500 kcal on a fat person.

I’m eating less and walking more. I meant to say it’s hard to get skinny and lean in a short period of time. It should take a year or two to get lean and healthy not a few weeks or months

Good for you. You're on the right path, what really would help you as well is keeping count of your calories. Also eat a lot of real, healthy homemade food, then you don't crave for sweets, and don't feel like shit all the time. You set the pace, but it's not like it's going to destroy your health, if you want to drop the weight a little faster, might get a little bit of saggy skin tho.

Probably saw her fat sisters get treated less than, so decried it racism in origin. but skin colour has absolutely nothing to do with fat phobia. White, Asian, black... it doesn't mean shit. Being a landwhale is disgusting.
