Is a wide and a square jaw the same?

Even if this were true (doubtful) the "good looking" part is wrong. The mid mandible is narrower in those people as it provides angularity. For the same reason why MSDO is a meme procedure (widens the mid mandible while not touching bigonial width), you need a narrowish mid mandible with forward growth and sufficient bigonial width to have a good lower third. Look at Cavill, Jamie Lannister type mandibles. Same principle.

it's not that their jaw is wider, most of the time they just have laughable lower third height which gives this football head appearance

they height is the same, the fact that is wide gives the illusion that it's short
