Im not saying you need an A in every class, or that everyone with good grades is smart. But there way too many users coping about their failing grades talking about how school is useless anyways and they're gonna escape the matrix or whatever bullshit

The reality is that college and getting a good degree is the most consistent and reliable path to success, somebody smart should be aware of that. A smart person would not blame the fact they failed a highschool math test on some dumb cope, they probably wouldve studied or got a decent grade without studying.

Understanding the importance of education is important and the statistics support this.

Bad grades doesn’t mean your dumb. I’ve had relative good grades and I’m not one bit smarter than my friend who failed lmao.

At the end of the day , school is designed for teenagers and children. Everyone can do it and everyone can graduate high school.

It’s about motivation and not getting depressed mid-way.

youre proving my point, you likely arent dumb hence why you were able to get an okay score despite not studying

Right, within the subjects you might not be smarter than your friend, but youre smarter in other ways due to understanding the importance of taking it seriously and not slacking off

Not necessarily. Not me coping btw, I have very good grades. Most tests, atleast in Germany, only consider your ability to memorise answers

Yeah, but youre smart enough to understand that its still important to get good grades even if it doesent reflect certain parts of ones intelligence

I guess it’s true , but you know there are things as mental illness and depression . Not taking school serious at all is a sign of low iq tho (y)

bad grades=classes are too boring so you fall asleep, day dream, or fail to attend.

obviously if you're studying super hard and still getting bad grades then it's over

Yeah but unless you have a legitimate plan with substance you should still be smart enough to know its worthwhile to do good.

Depends on the class, but for the most part yes. “I just do bad on tests because of anxiety” is 90% cope too.

That’s probably true. There’s some subjects I excel in better than others such as history, because it interests me, and English, and similar. While Maths, science/biology is a struggle because I suck at logical thinking and problem solving (+ it doesn’t interest me).

I have ADHD but had it untreated throughout my life so I have no idea how I would have done if I was on meds and was able to study for it without getting burned out. But there’s plenty of people with it who do good in school simple because they "get it" (aka smarter). Even if I manage to sit down I always struggled with maths and science/biology and got the worst grades because I never "got it". A teacher IT school I just dropped out of said there’s many with ADHD there.

Sadly I’m autistic, but didn’t get the smart type and obsessed with technology type of autistic. It would have been a great advantage to have in the job market.

So for math and science did you just give up? At least youre able to figure out what you liked that way. I think math thats fair enough, its very conceptual and if you dont get it youll be fucked. For science i never bothered to try and understand anything as it was usually memorizing different cycles and or steps.

What was your score?

I got a 32 but took it twice:feelshaha:

good cope
Not coping, I had good grades in school myself and now have a CS degree. I just eventually realized that the whole point of school is to turn you into a soulless robot that blindly complies with the system and never questions it.

Is that why examinations are closely correlated with IQ?

What do you mean examinations? I’m talking about grades in school overall. They’re based on more than just exams. I did good on tests I just failed classes because I didn’t do the work outside the tests.

Are grades in school (not just examinations) related to IQ? You can be very smart but do bad in school you know that right?

Well of course there are exceptions, but my post is true for the majority

I tend to give up easily if I don’t easily understand something, so yeah. Most subjects and concepts are about memorizing, but for me, memorizing things about history is a lot easier because I find it more interesting. But it’s also easier to understand I think.

I’m NEET right now since I dropped out, and I am until I start a new course. I think I’ll study history and/or archaeology. I had a temporary work before my study in cultural heritage preservation, and I did well in that type of work.

It feels kinda useless going for those degrees due to the lack of work prospects and good money; that’s why I didn’t go for those course in the first place. As for my case, I couldn’t keep going with sitting down and reading for something I have no interest in, to make a bit more cash in the future, even though money was my main motivation. Many people do though however, but I am not one of them, and I think that’s due to both not being interested in it, as well as not understanding the principal concept. IT requires lots of logical thinking and problem solving skills (for example deciphering binary to non-binary numbers) and math skills, and studying for it just made me realize how far behind I am people, since a lot of people seemed to "get it" than I did. I probably studied way less than them too, but most seemed to understand complex concepts and systems pretty fast, while I am not like that.

Sometimes I feel like a different species for how much I am unable to understand logical and mathematical concepts that other people understand, but it eez what it eez. It’s not that I spend less time with it too I think; I look at numbers or complex logical tasks and my brain just becomes a fucking rock.

I only had As in subjects I cared about.
