If you had an ADHD as a high-achiever as a child , school was probably a walk in the park for you but when you progress to the higher education or workforce , it will screw you ass up because there will be a change in work dynamics. You'll have appointments , deadlines and other urgent responsiblilities to commit. Back in school , you had more rigid schedule and adults to make sure you get things done on time and generally you can channel most of your attention on schooo stuffs. But when you struggle as an adult no one is going to believe that you have an ADHD or learning disorders because they knew school was easy for you. It's so easy for them to say you're just lazy , unmotivated and disorganized. It's so easy for them to say that you just need to sort yourself out and focus more. ADHD in high achiever kids can fly under the radar and left untreated. Imagine how much you could do or achieve if you were diagnosed earlier in life and I'm a living example of it. My focus is either 10000000% or 0% depends on whether I find that project or subject interesting or not. I remember finishing a programming project that normally require 3 people on my own almost 6 years ago.My grades swing from Striaght A's with top scores to almost the bottom of the class with in less than a year. And now I'm on the last 2 days of my undergrad degree writing an internship report but I can't bring myself to write a paper on a project that I knew it was doomed from the start and probably won't yield any interesting results.I have no options other than sewing it up and finally get shit together.
