Composition and Lyrics:
"Kassaman" was written by Moufdi Zakaria, a renowned Algerian poet and nationalist, in 1956. Zakaria composed the lyrics while imprisoned by the French colonial authorities in the Serkadji prison in Algiers. The anthem's lyrics were written on the walls of his cell using his own blood and makeshift tools, reflecting the intensity of the revolutionary spirit.
