the entire concept of determinism can be distilled to 'cause -> effect' - the effect is determined by the cause. but to believe in such a silly notion is to make the leap of faith that there must have been either

a) a cause that happened before all other causes ie exists above cause -> effect (hello, is that you god?)
b) an effect can precede a cause (which it can, look into retrocausality)

either way, there can be no such thing as cause -> effect.

in reality

there is no such thing as not having free will. either, everything is already predetermined (impossible) or ontological reality at its base level is congruent with free will (it is) - there can be no in between state (compatibilism)

Determinism is true. Height, intelligence, etc, are hardwired, they will, to some extent, govern your life, but it doesn't lead to thoughts being causal.

one is observable, testable, repeatable the other is not.

causation can still exist in a closed system, you don't need an initiating cause

oh wow

this forum is actually giga low sentience
