my reasoning being that he looks a bit more masculine

I think the other dad is taller and has a slightly bigger frame (but is skinnier at the same time), but agreed Jason looks more macho regardless.

I think in the show (I haven't really seen it) he's a psychiatrist, so one of the show's central premises I guess is that he's extra good at giving life lessons because of that.

Again, haven't seen much of either show, just a few clips here and there.
