Punching is a ballistic movement meant to be stopped by a target not your own joints. Shadowboxing without weight isn’t a problem. But by basically adding an anchor to your arm, you force the muscles in your shoulder (they are very small muscles) to absorb loads of force when rapidly decelerating the arm, a lot more than they can handle (you’re gonna get injured). Also, your joints are bad shock absorbers so it’s just gonna harm them too. Adding the extra weight also means you’re gonna be too slow and end up practicing bad technique. It seems like a cool exercise but at the end of the day it’s useless. Just do normal resistance training and practice technique on a bag or by sparring.
