got braces in 7th–8th grade and I’m now in 10th. I’m halfway through treatment, but my orthodontist keeps pushing premolar extractions, which I’ve refused after researching.

I have an underbite and wear rubber bands, but I’m very insecure about my long face and midface, Sometimes I look in the mirror and genuinely disgusted at my appearance other days I’m decently okay with my looks and my self confidence is high

I also snore and suspect sleep apnea. When I asked about options like headgear or MARPE, my orthodontist dismissed headgear and said “your upper jaw is pretty much done growing” and discouraged Marpe making it sound like a horrible choice “You get screws in your skull, you don’t really want that it’s painful” So I asked what my option were so I don’t get extraction she said “we can continue rubber bands and not really anything as when you get older you can get jaw surgery” Don’t remember if she said Double jaw surgery or Jaw surgery

I’m unsure if my treatment is going in the right direction. Here are pictures of my rubber band placement.
