I have a pretty wide jaw, and its a good thing, but that also made my teeth weirdly gapped, getting braces would fix the teeth issues, but im scared it may also make my bone structure narrow, is that just a myth or would that actually happen?

most guys i knew in my teens who wore braces ended up being absolutely recessed subhumans

won't affect your jawline width, if anything it'll make it look better and cleaner. braces move your teeth not your bones.

theoritically teeth are bones, but you get what i mean.

i don’t think they ruin the jaw, i had braces from ages 11-14 and i have a projected maxilla and a somewhat wide jaw

i think them being recessed was why they wore braces, not the other way around

Nah the braces caused them to mouth breathe, not shut thier motuh properly and nose breathe all the time, food issues - nto swalling or breathing properly. It's bad imo but you can try it.

You are black, it is basically impossible for you to have a recessed maxilla

i mean i could see that happening but the only issue i ran into with braces was constantly adjusting my mouth because of the discomfort

as long as you haven’t had your 4 pre molars removed you should be fine, when the pre molars are taken out for an overcrowded jaw orthodontists use braces to fix ,in most cases, overbites and thats when your mid face gets pulled back by the braces recessing a lot of people
