The braces fix an overbite, they dont fix an underbite/overjet
Only class elastics can do that, such as elastics class 2 for overjet, and class 3 for underbite

Under bites are slow to fix with orthodontics - as it involves moving every tooth through the alveolar bone - some changes to the TMJ also occur - may as well get a jaw surgery to fix the recessed jaw along with the entire system.
