I am 16 but have a bone problem where my bones develop real slow, and as a result I am only halfway through my braces process at 16. I have an 100% overbite, meaning my front top teeth are fully over my bottom teeth. What is the process orthodontists use to fix this? Will they make my top row smaller? Will they make my bottom row wider? Will it fuck me over?

they will use elastic bands to recess your maxilla (upper jaw) & pull your mandible forward in order to fix your bite correction. if you wanna wait & inject igf-1 or get a bone marrow transplant, you will see significant growth of the mandible (lower jaw) which can help fix the recession based on how much growth you experience.

Is the recessing of the maxilla harmful or is the difference negligible. Also, I am not 100% sure I am recessed. My back bottom teeth simply don't each my top back teeth, but my front top and bottom can touch each other very normally. I think I have poor forward growth generally but I am not sure if that is the result of my teeth problem

What if they didn’t use rubber bands

these problems stem from
- hormone deficiency
- bad habits
- malnutrition

you do have poor forward growth because in order to have a over or underbite, you would need to have a downswung or sunken maxilla which would cause these issues. i doubt it would do much by recessing the maxilla. you should ask for correctors along with a palatal expander.

For the first three problems, are these possible to bounce back from at 16 years old? There is no doubt I have had some kind of hormone deficiency in the past but I do believe my body has leveled itself, and I have experienced some forward growth, but I haven't fully "recovered". If it is possible, could you forward me to some good methods to sort of overcompensate for my malnutrition as malnutrition has most definitely been a problem in the past.

get rapid palatal expansion asap. pay as much money as u need. ur teeth are the most important, not only for your facial aesthetics, but for ur health.

If I just ask an orthodontist, would they give it to me? What do I do if they say no?

it costs a lot of money. ask them for it. yell at them that ur palatal sutures are loose and it can fucking make a difference. never take no for an answer. this is ur life. keep screaming at them until they listen.

Why does it cost so much money in particular? Just seems like another dental appliance.

It expands ur upper jaw and fixes ur maxilla which can help ur lower jaw
What if they literally just flat out refuse? If I just yell at them my parents will fucking kill me. We are rich so palate expanders arent a problem but I need an actual plan as these people know more about ts than me. Any aftermarket solutions if they were to say no?

He seems to be describing a deep bite. I don't think that necessarily means that the maxilla is downgrown

Or the maxilla can be overgrown and the mandible isn’t
I have one but mine is caused by my molars being too short, if they were taller I wouldn't have it since my skeletal base is class 1

They’ll use elastics to pull ur teeth down and u will have normal bite+ taller ramus

More good than harm so do it

elastic bands will ascend you if you have correct posture, mew and if your overbite isn't really that big. I had an overbite of 2mm but they fixed it and gave me more forward growth.

Good maxilla projection can cause an overbite I'm not completely sure tho

I think this is my problem as well, how are you fixing it?
Braces, no extractions and elastics. I am going to a myofunctional orthodontist though, so I haven't gotten my treatment yet. I don't think i will need extractions, my palate is nearly 50mm

Rubber bands won't recess maxilla JFL only teeth extraction does

Rubber band will just pull teeth and alveolar process back

There is not enough force to pull your maxilla JFL

Braces before bimax is mandatory, and people aren't more recessed in the process. Only their teeths change
