My dad owns his own orthodontic clinic, so i got braces there. Now he wants me to get elastic rubber bands thats going to push back my upper jaw and i heard it gives a reccesed maxilla, ive already asked for a palatal expander, btw im 14 and he said its not possible what do i do? is there any way to not get a recessed maxilla while having them?

ask for palatal expansion but don’t go for too much as your mandible might end up too narrow (i think your dad will know what to do though..) and you’d probably be fine with a herbst appliance if your lower jaw is recessed or at a wrong angle

if the condyle remodels the mandible can grow the way its supposed to

i got rpe at 15 its possible (wide open sutures), you get marpe until like 25

ask for palatal expansion but don’t go for too much as your mandible might end up too narrow (i think your dad will know what to do though..) and you’d probably be fine with a herbst appliance if your lower jaw is recessed or at a wrong angle

i couldnt get a palatal expansion, i can ask for a herbst appliance but there is nothing i can do while have elastic band, to stop my maxilla from being recessed

Just don’t get them tell ur dad looking good is very important for u so u don’t want to get them
