Authorities reported that two brothers and a friend, all 18 years old, were arrested for beating their stepfather to death after learning that he had sexually abused their younger sister on January 20.

Brothers Alejandro and Christian Treviño, along with Juan Eduardo Meléndez, all 18, were accused of beating Gabriel Quintanilla, 42, the Treviño brothers' stepfather, to death on Thursday of last week.

According to the police report, the man was beaten with metal knuckles and suffered trauma to the skull and was dumped in a crop field.

Citizens are calling for his release as they say they were heroes in rescuing their little sister from further rape by this abuser. A petition with more than 40,000 signatures demands the release of the three young men who were arrested
