BTC ATM question

I am in a peculiar predicament regarding BTC Atms (my only current option for exchanging cash into crypto) where somehow the transaction only goes through whenever I receive the verification code using my mother's phone number. Otherwise I am rejected for being under 18 given by a display message that pops up. My original theory was that the Apple ID's had our account age attached which was preventing it however I have tried multiple others including a google voice phone number and even the fucking gas station clerk's (obv 18+) to no success.

Does anyone know why this is? I would also be willing to send $5 to anyone who could lend me their # to give it another try.
