Butter is Unironically the Best Thing You Can Put in Your Hair and the Afar people of Eritrea have been doing this for centuries
Before everyone starts screaming greaseball, there’s actually some real reasons behind it.
1. Pure fat
Hair dryness is basically your hair shaft lacking lipids. Butter is almost pure fat, which means it coats the hair cuticle and seals moisture. This is why half the conditioners marketed to you are just different forms of oils and fats.
2. Fat soluble vitamins
Butter contains fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K. Vitamin E in particular is often used in hair products because it helps with scalp health and can reduce dryness. I AINT RUBBING SEED OILS ON MY SCALP
3. Cheap and everywhere
Hair masks and moisturizer can cost ridiculous amounts for something that’s basically oils and fats. Butter is like a couple bucks and does a better job.
4. Frizz control
Because it’s heavy, it helps weigh down frizz. Obviously you can’t use a ton or you’ll look like you dunked your head in a frying pan
.
Curious if anyone else here has tried it or if I’m the only guy rubbing dairy products on his hair.
I came up with this because my gf forced me to wash my afro Caribbean hair after one month of no wash which completely raped it and the butter just fixed it in 3 minutes which surprised me a lot, i wish i knew this earlier.
