Can a ortho do msdo?

Do i need a maxfac surgeon combined with a ortho? Why is lower jaw distractor widening not more common? There are almost no cases or information about msdo online. Seems like people only get their upper teeth expanded.

Depends... Not every, ortho knows what it is, for the ones that do know it they should be able to

I went for a consult with a surgeon who does bimax and DO(distraction osteogenesis). He doesn't recommend them to adults since DOs can be unpredictable ie(rotting, relapse, weird growth etc). Teens and children have much faster bone growth and DO's can be very predictable and stable for them. However, idk if that just means he's not up to date on the latest stuff, he didnt know what mse was. Take that with a grain of salt i suppose.
