Can bad lighting make asymmetry look worse on picture?

i took a front camera selfie in weird lighting (there were more shadows on my left side of face on cheek area) and at by looking at it you can't find asymmetry but when i went into iphone photo settings and un-mirrored it i was shocked ngl, other than that when i look into mirror or mirrored photos my face looks symmetrical.
