I heard if you get really good at chess, it sort of trains your intelligence or something.

Is this true?

No. Being good at chess is correlated with having a high IQ but you getting good at chess won’t increase your IQ.

In fact, you can’t get good at chess without a high enough iq in the first place

idk about increasing your IQ but I noticed it helped me with visual memory and planning.

After a while of playing chess you can visualize multiple moves in advance, pretty much all top tier chess players can play blindfolded, they just memorize the whole board.

Now ofc its all about your potential tbh, not everyone will be able to play blindfold

I don’t think so, IQ usually doesn’t flucuate that much, especially if you’re past like age 12.

I feel like Im smarter now then when I was 18 tbh

No, I think IQ has more to do with logical and cognitive thinking. Like, you’re able to see patterns between things others would miss. It’s an innate thing, I believe.

Doesn’t mean your IQ increased, it just means you gained experience and knowledge.

jfl how could it meaningfully improve IQ? And if it did, are those gains on G?
I doubt you’d be able to increase your IQ by more than 5 point regardless of what you do if you’re an adult. If one could significantly change their IQ in adulthood wouldn’t we have a lot more people that have an IQ past a 120?

No iq can only decrease not increase

Yes. I think you can slightly increase your IQ scores in adulthood but those gains aren’t on G so they’re useless, essentially.

If you get good at chess, you only get good at chess. I played tons of brain games, puzzles, strategy and tactics video games, and I noticed that getting good at one of them does nothing in improving your skill at other games, even if they are very similar.

Yeah well it's mental exercise like any. You won't become genius playing some chess, but it may raise your IQ by few points for sure.

It's the same as any other game, the more you play the more you'll be good at it,it is good to flex on normies tho because it is seen as an intellectual game so when I beat them blindfolded they think I'm a genius when really I'm a faggot neet skinnyfat recessed life acne faced tormented bully victim.

IQ is 100% genetic and is pretty much just like looks the only difference is there's no surgery for your iq.

No. Imagine putting up such a simple answer on the most argued question in the scientific communities

“The heritability of IQ increases with age and reaches an asymptote at 18–20 years of age and continues at that level well into adulthood. This phenomenon is known as the Wilson Effect.”

jfl if you think people like einstein and newton had an iq of 120 and what increased it was education.

iq is inherited and not obtained.

Iq is 10000℅ environment
