Can I do dips instead of bench press

Bench press makes my shoulder feel weird and my chest never gets sore. Ive been doing dips and they feel better and my chest feels sore

Keep bench press in your routine for a heavy set or two once or twice a week, minimal volume. Just to keep your body used to the movement. Otherwise feel free to do dips. As long as you’re progressing in some way it’s never wrong.

Ill keep trying bench press. Ifeel that calesthetics exercises mogs abit I love pull ups and dips, I may focus on dips and ohp.

Calisthenics does mog, if you don’t care too much about legs.

I’m not sure how big a chest you can build with dips but good luck finding out. Are you doing ring dips or bar dips?

Im doing bar dip. I gotta do them asissted for now cuz im weak but well see. Ill add in some flys for chest as well. I dont train legs also, I have narrow hips so going for v shape

doing close grip bench press helps take some of the stress off your shoulders and will work your chest more. Most people go for a wider grip but that can fuck your shoulders up over time

yeah and progress to weighted
 
do weighted push ups and weighted dips

Do chest excersizes with cable, they work the best.
Cable > Dumbell Press > Bp

It’s a tricep exercise. Uncomfortable to hold and balance. Prefer EZ-bar skull crushers or just diamond push ups for triceps.

he has issues with his elbow tendon, I recommended doing close grip on bench instead since he's doing it anyway and that way he won't have to isolate triceps as much directly.

skull-crushers and such are all extremely rough on the tendon.

Try dumbbell bench, annoying set up but will be less harsh on your shoulders

That’s fair, skull crushers are indeed brutal on the tendon, I’d only do them light weight high reps and even then it feels questionable.

I like diamond push up these days, again for high reps, similar movement to close grip bench but you have a more comfortable hand position and less balance issues. Might not be challenging enough though, it’s enough for me cause I’m weak.

Only do what you like otherwise you won’t be consistent
 
how do you load enough weight
weight chain belt for push ups you need to ask someone to put weights on your back or just do progress on reps you dont need to go super heavy like on the bench

if you are feeling your shoulder in the bench you are probably flaring your elbows way too much, the more horizontal your elbow placement is the higher the shoulder and upper chest engagement, both of which aren't good at moving heavy loads and are more volume oriented.

I heard that dips were bad for you if you have a wide waist.
I want to build an aesthetic physique and so should I lay off the dips and just do obliques/shoulders/lats for better v taper?
