Read some posts claiming supplementation of iodine having an impact on eye color due to detox of heavy metals like fluoride and mercury. Is this legit boyos?

If you’re that set on bringing a change to your eye color wait for STRŌMA or get contacts.

Dude if you've got functioning kidneys and liver, you dont need to "detox heavy metals" (with very few exceptions).

We must consider modern day soil is depleted of many nutrients and our water is heavily contaminated, in many places fluoride is added to our water.

....and? Like I said, if you've got a functioning liver and set of kidneys, you're good (barring anything way out of left field).

Either way, no, you can't change your eye colour through iodine supplementation.

Your eyes arent going to become noticably lighter through drinking iodine.
