SAT in India is for curry kids who cant get into any of the decent indian colleges and have the money to study abroad. Even the below average cels in our class has 1300+. Life is just so easy in the west, its insane.

In out coaching center, SAT score had a very small advertisement and some of the kids that got 1550-1600 had unexceptional 12k+ ranks in advanced, got into lower tier NITs/ IIITs or upper tier non BITS private colleges (if they didnt go abroad). Meanwhile, if you are an american citizen, even Ivy Leagues like Cornell have a 10-11% acceptance rates. Life is just pathetic if you are not exceptionally intelligent or motivated in India. In the west, you just need to be above average to do well.

the difference is indians have a culture of studying 24/7 whereas westerners don't really care until uni or work

Don't get me wrong, you're right about life being much easier in the west when it comes to succeeding. Every asian I knew (mostly chinese) told me their highschool years were a lot more brutal than how highschool is here (extremely easy, can learn everything off youtube and do well)

Plus most of colleges are shit in India. If i was born in US i would have easily gotten into MIT lol. I have an IQ of 130-131 btw. You need exceptional discipline and intelligence to get into a decent college here

I was in the same boat, my advice is if you can, drop a year and study for advanced/ BITSAT 20 hours a day. I wish I had during my time to escape the mediocrity I am in today. It seems like a year wasted now but can have SIGNIFICANT returns agar baat ban jaye

If you pick a career above your IQ you are going to be miserable all your life. Unless you are so stupid you don't even realize.

He might not be miserable all his life. Once shit gets repetitive IQ doesn't matter as much.
