The attachment to my follicles is causing suffering, indeed. But how brutal to be norwooding in my early 20s

Someone on this site was brutally Norwooding at 15 a couple years ago.

I’m a virgin
Also, you’re on oral min? Thought u were on topical
A transplant could probably fix it, but idk if I’m the right candidate for it rn. Idek if I’ve stabilised

I’m on oral, yes.

A transplant would fix it, but if you’re going to try dutasteride and RU58841, you would almost certainly notice slow regrowth if them hairs are still alive, even faintly, which they appear to be.

Upping to 10mg dut
And I’m hoping so. That’s why I haven’t started min yet. Kind of as an experiment
But at the same time I’m also potentially starving myself of gains until I start min

Minoxidil will give quicker growth, but as soon as you come off it, you’ll brutally shed it all out. The cycle of the scalp’s hairs is about a decade +/-3yrs; unless you plan on running oral minoxidil for 20-odd years, you’re going to experience ruthless shedding post-treatment.

Wouldn’t it come back within a few months? And ideally I’d stay on it, unless the negatives outweighed the gains

No. Them hairs survived off of minoxidil and once it converts back to the natural cycle, it sheds out and dies. It’s very weak without its stimulator and hence needs a couple cycles to really root itself in the anagen/growth cycle.

I didn't know dutasteride came in tubs of powder. I thought that stuff was gel capsules.

Its usually in gel calsules. But when you do your own DUT capsules with adjusted dosage you buy raw powder and make it yourself

Yeah, but it grows back as its previous miniaturised self though, no?
That’s my fear, that once a previously miniaturised hair sheds after being thickened by min and quitting, that it won’t grow back. But that doesn’t seem to be true

Perhaps, perhaps not. Once it sheds, it could just die, especially if your scalp is full of androgens.

Wtf

I would assume if it perma goes, it would’ve been decimated without min anyway

That is true. RU and dut would rape all scalp androgens, but relying on minoxidil leaving some vellus hairs after shedding is very risky. The shed happens regardless whether it’s rooted in anagen or not; the vellus hairs leaving is what occurs when it isn’t rooted which it wouldn’t be for about 20-odd-years. Taking the slow (in the short term) route with RU and dut is far superior.

Yeah obviously I wouldn’t use min alone, and would use dut
RU I’ll probably use for 1-2 years, idk about forever, especially if I’m on 10mg dut lol. Although this guy appeared to grow some short hairs on RU, then lost them after quitting, and staying on fin:

Androgens likely raped them again once he stopped.

No one really knows anything about RU tho
Maybe it only maintains by itself, like min
We know chemical theoretics about it. It will not help you post-usage as androgens rape the scalp again, but it can help those vellus, dying hairs survive and slowly come back. It doesn’t stimulate growth on its own, rather revives dead hairs from a brutal environment.

Your pal said it would work post usage if u continue dut. MPMD doesn’t use it anymore, but tbh idk how much it helped
I’m also wondering about the mechanism behind any regrowth from it. Same with fin and dut, which can regrow hairs on the crown

I imagine he meant it would likely carry them over since the hairs don’t count on RU like they would on minoxidil; once they’re alive again, dutasteride can clear it from the main hitter. It’s just other androgens will rape tiny hairs. I highly doubt he was saying it has any lasting effect post-usage apart from what it’s already done mid-term as I stated above.

The mechanism of regrowth is simply a nicer environment for vellus hairs to grow in. It doesn’t grow them itself. It just nukes all androgens on the scalp so vellus hairs go from a war zone to a bed of roses.

Why would vellus hairs grow larger instead of staying comfy and small, even without androgens?

Because it’s a nicer environment so they recover.
Yes, that’s what I’m saying. It doesn’t stimulate hair growth like minoxidil; it just nukes the bomb-shell environment to allow vellus hairs to prosper and revive. As long as they’re still alive, they’ll want to come back properly, but it is androgens that’s nuking them.

Same as 1 mg
And I’m on dut now, and will be bumping up to 10 mg dut a day
You get a few more percent effectiveness on 1mg and the stuff is cheaper than dirt. Lol at not taking a full dose because you think sides will be less and then going full dut anyway

It wasn’t for sides
I never cared about them
It was cos I was 20 and my beard was still developing

It costs less than 10 a month
Huh?
I mean I didn’t want to stop my beard developing, so I was apprehensive and taking low doses, cos I wasn’t even sure I was norwooding then

Any loss of dht suppression means more balding

Any loss of dht suppression means more balding
Not entirely how it works
Most people don’t bald on fin even tho it only reduces dht by 60-70%, and less in the scalp. So who’s to say 40-50% reduction won’t also prevent balding?

The 60-70% is the tipping point. Lowering the dose beyond that is playing with norwooding
