Jfl at right-wing lies about capitalism creating higher standards of living and that the west is proof of this. Higher standards of living for whom? Prior to globalism quality of life for the industrial lower classes in the west was utterly terrible, and literally the only reason this changed is because globalism basically just turned the third world into the new global lower class while westerners (and a few developed nations like Korea/China) become the global middle and upper class.

Fun fact: Only 20% or so of the world population is considered "middle class" or higher. 80+% are dirt poor.

And even then, capitalism sucks so bad that even in the west people are becoming poorer anyway. Capitalism is a lie and a scam. You only get Ipads at affordable prices because Chinese or Indian wage slaves made them for you for a slave wage under horrible conditions. If the third world vanished and the west had to start producing all of it's shit by itself where people are paid good wages and have good working conditions then the pricing of tons of things would go through the roof. Things like Iphones would basically become luxury items.

in 150 years, free market capitalism has eradicated poverty in hundreds of millions of people around the world. I do not think you would want the entire Indian and black populations to live in total misery, at palolithic and Neolithic level, dying at the age of 50 because of a mouth infections? Without of free-market capitalism, there would be no industrial revolution, there would be no powerful companies and e-revolutionm there would not be discord, cheap homes and cheap food, the biggest techonoly progress we can observe in the last 100 years. Capitalism has never failed, the biggest progres in technology and standartds of living was when we had free market capitalism up to the 1914, since 1930's people are blaiming capitalism for things capitalism has nothing to do.

Pauperisation of the middle class? Result of constant inflation due to fiat currency and Central Banking systems.
Constant Inflation and lack of finacial stability? Result of fiat currency.
Big prices of medical drugs? Result of action taken by corrupted government instituions.
Super-Hipergamy? Result of "equal payment" anti-free market policy. Females are now "married" to the state.I could go on and on and on...

As you know China actually has mixed-economy with many areas such as energy or resources under state control. China actually rejected purly socialist model after Mao died. Deng Xiaoping started chinese free market reforms in 1978.

Well, I think that without large failures in the middle 20th century and being open late to world trade (beggining of 80s!) it could be a bit closer to South Korean level.
