Georg Carl Tänzler, also recognized as Count Carl von Cosel, was an individual of German origin who pursued a career as a radiology technologist within the esteemed Marine-Hospital Service located in the idyllic coastal town of Key West, Florida. However, it is in the realms of obsession and unconventional devotion that his story truly unfolds. Enthralled by the ethereal presence of a young Cuban-American woman afflicted by tuberculosis, Elena "Helen" Milagro de Hoyos, Tänzler's infatuation persisted long after her untimely demise. In the year 1933, nearly two years following her passing, Tänzler clandestinely exhumed Hoyos' lifeless form from its resting place, sheltering her corpse within the confines of his own abode. For a span of seven years, he shared an abode with the remains, until the fateful moment of its discovery by Hoyos' grieving family and the intervention of the authorities in the year 1940.
