Dogs.
Cats will literally eat you alive, if you'd suddenly die of a heart attack and they'd have nothing to eat. Also cats are boring and not as intelligent, ideal for NEETs, though.

In terms of actual reasons besides just growing up with cats my experience with dogs is hearing them bark from neighbors houses or when you walk passed a house and them not digging their shit (plus shitty owners that don't pick it up) which has resulted in me stepping in dog shit before. So easily cats as you don't experience either of those. Also like that they're more independent but still social
