The path of discipline, a means to transcend fleeting desires and cultivate the spirit.
Redirect your vital energies toward clarity, purpose, and a Higher calling.
By renouncing the temporal, one embraces the eternal, finding peace beyond the illusions of the world.

I disagree.

I personally find materialist cope of "we're just animals" to require way more faith than acknowledging transcendent meaning. They have chosen to believe that consciousness, reason, mathematics, logic, and the intelligibility of the universe itself just... happened. By accident. That their own ability to contemplate meaning is meaningless.

They've turned "I don't know if God exists" into "therefore nothing matters except animal impulses", which is a massive philosophical leap that their using to cope with existential anxiety. I would want them to at least be honest that their materialism is as much a metaphysical assumption as any religious view.

The fact that you can even conceptualize transcendence while being an "animal" is precisely what points beyond mere animality.
I would say that it's coping by reducing the profoundly weird fact of consciousness and meaning-making to "just biology."

But, again, that's just my opinion.

If you truly followed your desires you would become a meth addict and eventually die.

Yeah, you are right. Nice reply. I personally wish God to be real but because I don't know I do the opposite and act like nothing matters, that life is worthless.

Yeah, you are right. Nice reply. I personally wish God to be real but because I don't know I do the opposite and act like nothing matters, that life is worthless.

That's the most honest response I've seen, and I respect it.

But think about this: You're choosing nihilism as a defensive position because you're afraid of being wrong about meaning. You're essentially saying "I'll hurt myself before life can hurt me."

You know what takes more courage? Living as if meaning is real while acknowledging uncertainty. Because here's the thing: If you're wrong about nihilism, you've wasted your one shot at existence. If you're wrong about meaning, at least you lived fully.

Your position is basically "Since I can't be 100% certain of cosmic meaning, I'll be 100% certain of meaninglessness".

See how that makes no sense? You're not being more rational, you're being more afraid.

Don't let perfect certainty be the enemy of a life well-lived. The fact that you can even wish for God to be real shows you already know, deep down, that pure materialism isn't the whole story.

God bless.

Yeah. Simple threads I wrote to hone my writing skills on this forum. The screenshots of my replies weren't made to be taken seriously, as well as the insults because they were taken as jokes (Even the person I was talking to or 'insulted' took them as a joke because they were SOOOOO obvious). So, I really don't understand your point.

I don’t desire meth at all
Because you were not exposed to it. Mice starved to death in laboratories as they prefered getting dopamine hits from a button rather than eating food, therefore following their instincts and desires killed them. The body's desires and instincts surely have evolved and developed in order to maximize the chances of survival but they are not imperative as the organism is not perfect especially considering all the modern unknown for the body reward-based activities you can experience today.
