Since I began using chatgpt, I've found myself relying on it for nearly everything. From composing emails and messages to generating ideas for essays and articles, even this thread jfl, it seems like I can't function without it. But as helpful as it is, I've noticed that my own cognition has suffered as a result. I find myself struggling to come up with ideas and wording on my own, and it feels like my brain is getting lazier and less capable.

I can't help but wonder if this is a glimpse into the future, where we will all rely on artificial intelligence to do everything for us. It's a scary thought, like something out of the movie "Idiocracy", where people have become so reliant on technology that they've lost the ability to think and function independently.

However, it is possible to find a balance and continue to challenge ourselves and exercise our cognitive abilities even as we rely on technology to assist us. It is important to remember that we are in control of our own thoughts and actions, and we can choose to use technology as a tool rather than a crutch. By embracing the convenience and efficiency of modern AI while also making an effort to maintain our own cognitive abilities, we can thrive in this increasingly technological world.

Here are a few suggestions for how you can address the issue of feeling like your cognitive abilities are suffering due to your reliance on chatgpt:
  1. Take breaks from using chatgpt: Set limits on your use of the tool and give yourself regular breaks to practice generating ideas and wording on your own.
  2. Engage in activities that challenge your cognitive abilities: This can include puzzles, games, and other mental exercises.
  3. Get plenty of rest and exercise: Both of these can help to keep your mind sharp and functioning at its best.
  4. Practice mindfulness and focus: Take time to clear your mind and practice focusing on a single task or idea.
  5. Seek out new experiences and learn new things: Exposing yourself to new information and experiences can help to keep your brain active and engaged.

General Tips on increasing intelligence/cognition (copypasted my comment):
There are a variety of strategies that can help to increase intelligence. Here are a few examples:

Short-term methods:
  • Engage in activities that challenge your brain, such as puzzles, brain games, and riddles.
  • Practice mindfulness and focus on the present moment, as this can help to improve cognitive function.
  • Get enough sleep, as this is important for brain health and can help to improve learning and memory.
Mid-term methods:
  • Learn a new skill or take up a new hobby, as this can help to stimulate the brain and improve cognitive function.
  • Read regularly, as this can help to expand your knowledge and improve critical thinking skills.
  • Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and other sources of nutrients that support brain health.
Long-term methods:
  • Engage in lifelong learning by pursuing education and training opportunities throughout your life.
  • Exercise regularly, as physical activity has been shown to have positive effects on cognitive function.
  • Cultivate a growth mindset, which involves a belief that intelligence can be developed and improved through effort and learning.
It is important to note that intelligence is not a fixed trait and that there is no single "quick fix" for increasing intelligence. Rather, it is a combination of various factors, including genetics, environment, and life experiences, that contribute to intelligence. By implementing a variety of strategies over time, it is possible to improve cognitive function and increase intelligence.

ChatGPT seems like crack for ITcels...

Shouldn't be a burden to me because I love learning and always keeping my mind sharp: once I MERGE with AI my powers will be increased, not diminished.

Also if you got AI + intelligence you are already ahead of Normies.

Jesus, I'm in a similar spot as you.
I need to stop relying on it so much.

Like me: I don't know anything about coding but will learn it in a year due to dedication + tips from experienced coders.
